Believe the Impossible Dream

Dear Sweet Your Turn Women,

I’m blubbering right now after watching an old clip from “Man from La Mancha”. It’s a classic for those of you who don’t know it. Here’s a Youtube clip of a great song from the play.  I know some people will roll their eyes at me, but the story line captures how I feel today. In a nutshell, the main character is a wild dreamer who most people think is a nut. However in time, they see the value of him and the townspeople become inspired by his endless hope.

The theme song To Dream the Impossible Dream talks about believing something wonderful in the midst of seemingly impossible conditions. I copied the lyrics below. Don’t we dream for impossible dreams? We think about things so wonderful that are so precious that we hide our desires deep within our psyches to avoid disappointment. What unbeatable foes do you have? Sometimes I get tired by all the doing in my life. I’m in school and it’s hard to finish the program. I’m working out, but it’s tiring at times. I run, but some hills are a real drag. I try and when I fail it hurt. Still, no matter what, I don’t want to give up!! This song has me crying because it plucked at my heart because I want to be a fool for my dreams! I want to run not matter how much I giggle or huff and puff. My star that I follow is to graduate and enjoy a new career path. I want to love my family pure and chaste from afar. I want friendships with amazing, successful, believing women. Don’t we all want to fight our unbeatable foes-whether they be depression, finances, illness, aches and pains, inhibition, fear, fatigue… Go for it. Dream it. Fight for it. So like the man from La Mancha, your heart will lie peaceful and calm because you were true to your quest. I hope you enjoy your glorious quests this week.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause
And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
Your Turn
